An Industrial design constitutes the ornamental or aesthetic aspect of an article. A design may be consist of three dimentional features, such as the shape or surface of an article, or of two dimentional features, such as patterns, line or color.



Industrial designs are applied to a wide variety of products of industry and handicraft: from technical and medical instruments to watches, jewelry, and other luxury items; from housewares and electrical appliances to vehicles and architectural structures; and from textile to leisure goods.

Industrial design are protected in Bangladesh under The patents and Design Act-1911. Registration of Assign is given for Five years. It could be renewed twice, each renewal remains valid for Five years.

The right to protection of an Industrial design belongs to its owner. After an application for registration has been made in the prescribed manner, If the registrar thinks deemed fit that the proposed design is new and original one, the registrar granted and accept the design or If the registrar is not satisfied then he may refuse application for registration of design the aggrieved person after receivingthe notice of refusal of his application then he may prefers an appeapl to the government within stipulated time.
